The Vienna Wireless Society (VWS) is one of the largest and most active Amateur Radio clubs in Northern Virginia. Anyone interested in amateur radio may join Vienna Wireless; you do not need to have your amateur radio license in hand, and you do not have to live in our local area!

See Off-Grid Radio Communications Demonstration
ARRL Field Day 2026 at Burke Lake Park June 27-28
The Vienna Wireless Society will host an ARRL Field Day site on June 27–28, 2026. The public is invited to stop by, learn about amateur radio, see live operating demonstrations, and even get on the air with the help of our operators.
You’ll find us near the front entrance of Burke Lake Park off Ox Road along Golf Drive.

Look for the large tent and antennas. Parking is available onsite.
Public Schedule
Saturday
2:00 PM — Event begins
8:00 PM — Public demonstrations conclude for the evening
Sunday
9:00 AM — Public participation resumes
2:00 PM — Field Day concludes
Field Day is the largest amateur radio event in North America. Local radio operators set up temporary stations using portable antennas and emergency power to practice communicating under field conditions. Visitors can learn how amateur radio supports emergency communications, public service, technical education, and international communication. No license or experience is needed to attend.
