The Vienna Wireless Society (VWS) is one of the largest and most active Amateur Radio clubs in Northern Virginia. Anyone interested in amateur radio may join Vienna Wireless; you do not need to have your amateur radio license in hand, and you do not have to live in our local area!

Join us on Friday September 11 at 7:30 PM, at Oakton High School cafeteria, for a continuation of “Secrets of Vienna Wireless Society”. Earlier this year we heard about our remotely operated HF station at the American Legion Post 150 in Vienna, and all about how to operate this radio from your QTH. This month we will hear about several other advantages to being a Member of the largest Ham Radio Club in Virginia! Topics to be covered include our World Renowned Maker Group with KK4DAS Dean, Successful techniques for DX’ing with W2WCM Bill, and we’ll learn all about our Repeater system with KD4MM Mike. In addition, we’re hoping to have an update from the Tokyo Ham Fair from K6ZO Don, who recently attended the Fair with some of his students from Malawi!
As usual there will be food and plenty of camaraderie, so plan to join us in person, or on Zoom if you must, but no food for you.

Annual Fall Picnic!
September 26, Saturday
Rain or Shine. 11 AM until 2:00 PM
(Setup starts at 10 AM)
It’s Going to be one of the most Absolutely Awesome VWS Picnics EVER!
Great Food! Great Fun! Great Camaraderie! Cool Stuff!
Volunteers Needed!
Activity Planning ideas welcome! If you have an interesting item for Radio Show and Tell please bring it to the picnic. We always have something really cool to see.
An outdoor cooking demonstration with real food will be held around 11:45 AM. We need volunteers to make it all happen!

Where: Roundtree Park in Falls Church: 3320 Annandale Rd, Falls Church, VA 22042. We’ll be in the Pavillion.
Our picnic fare will be served starting around Noon (depending on how many cooks volunteer), expertly curated and prepared!
All food will be provided. Please volunteer to help with setup starting around 10 AM, and stick around after to help cleanup starting around 2 PM.
We have seating for about 60, but it’s wise to bring a folding lawn chair.

Please volunteer with an activity, or to help with one. Otherwise without any activities we just eat stuff.
Volunteers Needed: Please indicate in your Reply if you can help out with setup or cleanup as well.
Setup of food area- 2-3 persons
Cooking- 2-3 persons who can cook on a grill (see 11:45 AM activity)
Activity leads- as many as are interested. Activity support persons- ditto.
If you can bring a folding table, please let us know.
Cleanup- 3-4 persons
